Learning with Whaea Terry

Talofa Lava,

This week Andrews Class had Whaea Terry on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We did a lot of things, we especially did coding. This was fun because we had the chance to play Turing Tumble. We separated into groups of 2, 3, or 4. Each group had a box to work with and had to complete levels, we had a book to see what we had to do.

Something else we did was Craiyon, we had to make our own superhero for Cybersmart and use Craiyon to make our superhero. We had to make a description about our superhero.

We learnt how to code a dog and taught Whaea Terry’s dogs some tricks. I wasn’t part of this activity but I enjoyed petting the dogs and feeding the dogs some treats.

Lasting we learnt about this website. Whaea Terry told us about how people around the world gather and have a meeting about automatic cars and how they will work. We had to do a quiz about the cars and what problems can happen. The website we went on was Moral Machine.

The hardest part was doing the Turing Tumble and completing level 5.

The easiest part was doing the Moral Machine.

The part I enjoyed most was both doing the Moral Machine and doing the Turing Tumble.

This was a really fun experience to do with my class and Whaea Terry. Thank you for visiting my blog. Here is a photo of the Turing Tumble set. Have you ever used Craiyon?

Cybersmart SLJ

Kia Ora,

For Cybersmart, Whaea Tanya talked to us about Summer Learning Journey. She talked to us about what prizes we would get if we participated. We had to do a week activity. We also had to do a survey. We did the Superhero kick start activity on the SLJ site. We got the chance to look at some inspiration of a superhero we could create. We had to make up its looks and personality and what abilities it has. We had the choice to make our superhero on Google Drawing, Kleki, or Craiyon. I used Craiyon. Once we had our image we had to make a Google drawing talking about our hero and facts about our hero.

The hardest part was thinking about my character’s abilities.

The easiest part was using Craiyon.

The funnest part was thinking about my character even though it was hard.

Here is my Google Drawing. Thank you for visiting my blog! Do you know what telekinesis is?

Swimming!

Malo E Lelei World Of Bloggers,

This term, the whole school had swimming lessons. Last week swimming lessons ended, many people had a lot of fun and learnt many things. We all had separate groups, there was three groups and each group had a swimming coach. My swimming coach I had was named “Sam”. In my group was, Layla S, Angel, Tejina, Pita, Farangis, and Ifalemi. There was a couple more people but they did not swim.

On our first lesson, we used paddle boards and learnt swimming on our stomach and back. We did a couple laps and we then went to the wall and did starfishes and breathing underwater.

On our second lesson we learnt a bit more and did some more paddling. We did the same wall exercise.

We first learnt how to float, and how to float with a bottle. To be able to float with a bottle we had to make sure the bottle was empty. We then learnt how to climb in and out of a pool and how to climb in and out of a boat.

The next week we learnt how to float with clothes on. We also learnt how to keep warm and we learnt about parts of a life jacket. Next we learnt how to doggy paddle.

On our last couple of lessons we learnt how to survive big waves, currents, and we learnt how to make a vortex. During our last lesson everyone was split into their groups and swam with different equipment.

Something I found difficult was learning to survive big waves because we had to swim with clothes on.

Something I found easy was learning about the life jackets.

Lastly something I found fun was learning to float with bottles. This was fun because we had the chance to fill our bottles up with water. We could also tip the water on our heads.

Swimming lessons was really fun because everyone had a fun day on the last day. Thank you for visiting my blog. If you have any feedback, feel free to comment.

Stuck Creative Writing

Bula World Of Bloggers!

This week Andrews Class did creative writing. Our writing could be about anything, but we had to make sure it was a non-fiction story. We had to include a setting,  a beginning,  a middle, and end. We also had to include characters and a genre. Lastly we had to include when, where, what, who, why, and how.

We made sure to include punctuations and made sure our spelling was correct. We made sure we had paragraphs and good adjectives.

I named my title “Stuck”. It is about a 15 year old girl moving into a new house with her mum and she discovers something. I made my own brainstorming.

The hardest part was doing the brainstorming because I had to think of my story and what characters were gonna be in it. Something I also found hard was thinking of good adjectives to add.

The easiest part was checking my work.

The part I enjoyed most was writing my story in general.

Smart Searching 2

Hello Bloggers!

This week for Cybersmart, we did smart searching 2. Last week we did smart searching 1. First thing we had to do was go on slides and copy them. We had this slide and there was a screenshot and showed what happens when you search things and they helped us label different items. We had the choice to either search up Rebel Sports, The Olympics, and Stan Walker. I search up “The Olympics” and had to label items. Next we had a chart and we had to search up key words. Whatever results we got we had to type it down. Next we had to search up words and copy and paste links that will help us. On the last slide we had to do the definition of a word and type it down.

The hardest part was doing the last slide and typing the definition.

The part I enjoyed most was doing the screenshots and labeling the items.

The funnest part was labeling the items.

Here is my slides I did, if you have any feedback feel free the comment! Do you know what “Suburban” means?

Smart Searching

Namaste Bloggers!

Today for cybersmart we did smart searching. We first had to watch a video on slides, next we had to search up different types of words. We then had to screenshot our results. Next we had to use either ticks, crosses, or question marks to answer if spelling was important. We had to answer a lot more questions. Next we had to highlight key words in questions, we had to use the key words for our answers.

The hardest part was highlighting the key words.

The easiest part was doing the screenshots.

The part I enjoyed most was doing the screenshots.

Do you know what smart searching is? Thank you for visiting my blog. Here is the slides that we used. If you have any feedback, feel free to comment.

Diwali

Hello guys,

Last week, Mrs Patel was talking us about Diwali and facts about it. She also told us about the story of Rama and Sita. A girl in our class named, Krisha told us about the story.

We then had to do a create task, we had to go on our class site and go on a Diwali slideshow. We looked at the story about Rama and Sita, what people do in Diwali, and many more thing.

I learnt that the people begin decorating their prayer areas. I also learnt that people use diyas to decorate. I learnt that Diwali lasts for 5 days.

Next we had to do a create task and had to choose something to make. We could make rangoli art or a flower or a diya. I decided to make a flower. It was basic but I wanted to use the colours red and orange. I made a circle and I made flower petals and I used glue to stick them to the circle.

The hardest part was trying to draw the shape of the flower petals.

The easiest part was gluing the flower petals.

The part I enjoyed most was gluing the flower petals.

Here is my flower I made, thank you for visiting my blog!

Creating Media!

Kia Ora!

Today for Cybersmart, we used media to create an image. We had to watch a video of how to draw either a minion, how to make a Mosaic art piece, and how to do pixel art. I did Mosaic art.

I first had to make a Google Drawing and we had to use the tool “Poly line” and we had to make little shapes and try make a flower or anything! I made a flower. We could use any type of colour. We used slides and we also had to do what helped us learn and what didn’t help us learn.

I watched the Mosaic art video, something that helped me learn was that you can use the colour wheel if you don’t have a colour you like. Something that didn’t help me learn was talking about other Mosaic art pieces.

The hardest part was doing the Mosaic art and doing the shapes.

The easiest part for me was opening a drawing in the right folder.

The funnest part was creating the Mosaic art.

Something I learnt was how to change the colour of your shapes without spending too much time.

Here is the slides. You can watch the videos! Thank you for visiting my blog! If you have any feedback, feel free to comment!

Here is also my Mosaic art piece, it’s not the best but it was rushed.

If you want to see the Mosaic art tutorial, here it is!

Cybersmart News Article

Kia Ora,

This week for Cybersmart, Andrews class and Williams class had to do a news article. We used a google presentation, first thing we had to do was label the parts of an article. Next we had a news article template and we had to make a article about something that happened this week. If we didn’t want to do something that happened this week, we could do something that happened this term. We had to use pictures ande describe what happened.

The part I found most challenging was trying to figure out something to write down.

The easiest part was doing the pictures.

The funnest part was also doing the pictures.

Here is the google slide presentation!

Here is my News article poster!

Hour Of Code! AI for oceans

Kia Ora,

Last week week, Andrews Class did “Hour Of Code”. We played “AI for oceans” and we had a lot of fun. Every new stage we had we would have to watch a video related to AI. We had to sort out what were sea creatures and what were rubbish. We also had to check if we sorted them out properly, if we didn’t sort it out properly then we would have to start again and do more training. Each stage had different types of challenges.

The hardest part was trying to sort out which colour was which on the last stage.

The easiest part was watching the videos.

The part I enjoyed most was sorting out the things that belong in the water and the things that don’t belong in the water.

This was very fun to do! I had a good time sorting out the different types of sea animals. Click here to have a try at the coding game! If you have any feedback or questions, feel free to comment, thank you!
